the zoo

Grandpa B and I took the babies to the zoo last week. Clearly they are too young to really enjoy it as they were more distracted by the chipmunks and other children than the animals on display. I tried to take a picture of Stella at the petting zoo but she wanted nothing to do with the goats. I don't blame her. Here's the only picture I took but in it, Aaron is clearly having a great time.

Welcome to the zoo!!!

standing

Stella started pulling herself up about a week ago and now she's unstoppable. Her favorite thing to pull herself up on is someones leg but in a pinch she'll settle for wherever Aaron is. Here she is having a little conversation with her bro. It will be a miracle if she doesn't knock out her front teeth. We predict she'll be walking by the time she's a year.

nekkid

Swimming in the grandparents giant bathtub. Stella will be thrilled we have this when she's 15. She likes to be on her tummy so she can drink the water from the tub. I guess she doesn't realize that both her and Aaron's butts are in the water. Gross.

Happy!

The babies are 10 months old today. Here are a couple of shots.

Imitating my daddy

A little lunch with dad before he heads to New Orleans

I am a dignified lady at the table. I drink from a cup not a bottle.

I'm 10 months old!!! Yeah!!!!

Aaron and Stella are both full of beans. Stella started pulling up on furniture this past Friday so our days of relatively easy babies are over.

Happy 10 months babies!!

the pool!

We spent the day with Aaron and Stella's girlfriend Lily. Her grandma has a lovely pool just south of the city so we all trekked down. I had no idea that sucker was heated so imagine how thrilled we all were when we got in. The babies will be spoiled now and protest their cold pool. And thanks to Lily's mom, Sarah, we actually have some pictures.

Stella loves falling water. She sticks her face underneath to try and drink it.

Aaron making googley eyes at his mom.

Lily and Aaron pooped out for the ride back home

and so it begins

Stella is mobile, Aaron is not. Stella is bossy and wants everything she sees. Poor Aaron. Yesterday Stella crawled over to her brother who was on his back and shirtless (we were on our way to the pool) and just started blowing raspberries on his stomach. We thought it was hilarious and Aaron was just crying. Later when I picked Stella up she started blowing raspberries on my shoulder but she was biting me at the same time. So that's why little dude was crying. I am a bad mom. We keep singing songs to Stella about sharing and being kind just hoping they will sink in.

Here comes trouble

Help...meeeeeeee

Ok we'll both play with it

North Carolina!

We spent the weekend with my brother and sister in law and their two boys in Winston-Salem. The last time we subjected the babies to a trip this long was at Christmas and they handled it beautifully. They were also only 4 months old and slept most of the time. This time they were a little crankier about being confined to their carseats and it didn't help that it was hot. Oddly, the most difficult part of a trip like this is the inevitable stop to change diapers. Because this world is so wacky, most men's bathrooms don't have changing tables so that means I get to go to the ladies room in three round trips. I have to take in, change and return to dad each baby then go back in myself so I can use it. Of course when he holds both babies in a public place, women of all ages can't help but talk to him. It is pretty darn cute.

So we drove up through South Carolina (waving to Ms. Margaret as we passed Seneca!!!) and on to North Carolina and finally we were there. The boys came out to meet us but we knew they were really there to see their cousins. Nothing entertains a baby like an older kid and vice versa. Aaron and Stella just love their cousins and Matt and Will are so sweet with them.

We ate brats and BBQ and just hung out on the porch and enjoyed the sunshine and good company. The worst part was leaving and having to drive all the way back home...with no excitement to meet us on the other end.
